Jaanus Kulli. Bernhard Linde and Ladies (Biographical Data) |
2006, nr. 8 |
Bernhard Linde (1886–1954), one of the
founding members of the Noor-Eesti ("Young Estonia")
literary movement, was a prolific critic with his main interest
lying in theatre, but his authority also extended to literary
and art criticism. Beside that he dealt in translating and publishing,
and to a modest extent in writing prose as well as poetry. Linde
was a contradictory personality evoking ambivalent judgement concerning
both his literary production and his personal life. He was married
five times. Most of the few materials available of his personal
life are court files, as all his five marriages ended in divorce.
Another major source are some dossiers from the KGB archives.
Keywords: Bernhard Linde, Noor-Eesti,
Gustav Suits, publishing, biography, KGB, Soviet repressions.
